Aliyah Cardigan
At the beginning of this year I set a goal to design and write my first crochet garment pattern. Up until now I have only designed hats, baby items, and a few other small accessories, so this was a big goal for me. The Aliyah Cardigan was inspired by my favourite little summer cardi that I bought years ago. It was well-worn and becoming a little tattered.
I had a picture in my mind and I set out to research stitches and garment design to bring my vision to life. Let me tell you, designing garments in multiple sizes is no simple task. I am so proud that I met my goal and can finally share the Aliyah Cardigan crochet pattern with you in child and adult sizes!

About the Aliyah Cardigan
The Aliyah Cardigan is the perfect short-sleeve cardigan for spring or summer. You can dress it up or down! Pair it with a cute little summer dress for a wedding or a date. Or throw it on with a pair of jeans for a day of shopping. It is the perfect little cardigan to keep your shoulders warm on a cool summer evening.
I ended up making 3 Aliyah Cardigans because I just couldn’t get enough! Of course I had to make my daughter and I matching ones!
The Pattern includes child sizes 2-16 as well as adult sizes XS-5XL. So you can make an Aliyah Cardigan for yourself and your kids!
Pin for Later!

The cardigan is constructed of a back panel and 2 front panels sewn together. If you know how to do double and single crochet you can make this cardigan!
The yarn
For the pink/purple cardigan you see me wearing I used Loops & Threads Meandering Serpentine yarn. It is a worsted weight 4 yarn. Unfortunately this yarn is now discontinued, but there are lots of great substitutes! Some substitutes include Lion Brand Mandala Tweed, Lion Brand Jeans (affiliate links), or Yarn Bee Soft Secret.
I made the mommy and me set with Loops & Threads Creme Cotton yarn. It worked up perfectly and is so soft. Aren’t we cute in our matching outfits!? It was my daughters idea to be matching so there was no arguing from me. I’ll take it while I still can!

Gauge:
Gauge is very important for this pattern. If your gauge is too small, go up a hook size, or if your gauge is too big, go down a hook size and try again. Please note that not meeting gauge will result in a cardigan that is either too small or too big.
You will need to make 2 gauge swatches, one for the back panel (sc) and one for the front panels (V-st).
14sc x 16 rows = 4″ x 4″ (10cm x 10cm)
6 V-sts x 6 rows = 4″ x 4″ (10cm x 10cm)
