I hope you and your family are doing well. I know it’s been a crazy couple of weeks for us all, so I wanted to create something that would bring a little joy into your home. These crochet Easter eggs are easy to make and use very little yarn, so they are perfect for using up that extra yarn that you have in your stash.
This crochet Easter egg trio is perfect to add to your Easter decor, or even to stick into your kids Easter baskets. My kids have loved playing with them, and I love the color they’ve added to my living room decor! And the best part is, you can make them yourself!
The pattern below includes three sizes of eggs in 3 different designs. The patterns are easy to work up if you know how to work in the round. But even if you’ve never done it before, don’t worry, I’ve included some links to video tutorials in the notes below to get you started.
I used Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick yarn to make these, but you can use any yarn you want. Just note that if you use a lighter weight yarn your Easter eggs will be smaller than mine. Worsted weight yarn makes the perfect size to put in Easter baskets.
This pattern is available to purchase as an ad-free printable PDF on both Etsy and Ravelry.
Pin this for later!

Gauge:
Gauge isn’t super important for this pattern.
9 STS + 9 rows = 4″ x 4″ (10cm x 10cm) in SC.
Sizes:
Large Egg: 9″ (23cm) tall
Medium Egg: 8″ (20cm) tall
Small Egg: 5″ (13cm) tall
Note: If you use a smaller weight yarn, your eggs will be smaller.
Notes:
- This pattern is worked in continuous rounds. Do not slip stitch to join at the end of each round.
- Place a stitch marker in the first stitch of each round to mark your place.
- Bobble Stitch: Yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over and pull through (three loops on hook), yarn over and pull through 2 of the loops. Note that to complete the double crochet you would yarn over again and pull through the last two loops, but you are skipping that step here. Repeat the previous step three more times so that you have four not-quite-complete dc stitches worked into the same stitch. There will be five loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through all five loops. Chain 1 to close your bobble crochet stitch. Here is a great tutorial for the bobble stitch. For my egg, I stopped the bobble once I had 5 loops on my hook (not 6) because the bobbles were too big with the chunky yarn. If you are using a smaller weight yarn then continue the bobble stitch until you have 6 loops on your hook.
- Magic Circle: Here is a great tutorial for the magic circle.
- Here’s another great tutorial for changing colors in crochet.
- You can use any weight of yarn for this pattern. I recommend adjusting your hook size accordingly for the yarn you use.
- Please note, if you use a lighter weight yarn, your eggs will turn out smaller than mine did.
