Ch 1 at the beginning of each row does not count as a stitch
Puff stitch: yo, insert hook into next stitch, pull up loop to the height of a DC, yo, insert hook into same st, pull up a loop, yo, insert hook into same st a third time, pull up a loop, yo, pull through all 7 loops on hook. Ch1 to complete st.
Reverse Single Crochet: Insert hook into stitch to the right of hook, yo, pull through 1 loop, yo, pull through 2 loops. You are essentially just working sc backwards.
Brim:
Ch 6
Row 1: Turn, SC in each ST across (5 STS)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, SC in BLO across
Repeat row 2 64 times.
Fold brim in half, lining up the two ends. SL ST the two ends together to form a big circle.
Body:
Rnd 1: Working in the top of each row, SC evenly around 64 times. SL ST into first SC to join. (64 STS)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, turn, SC in first ST, *Puff ST, SC *. Rpt from * to * around, ending on a puff stitch. SL ST in first SC to join.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, turn, *SC in first st, SK ST, SC* repeat from * to * around. SL ST into first SC to join.
Repeat rounds 2 & 3, 12 more times, or until cowl measures 12” wide.
Final Rnd: Ch 1, reverse SC across. SL ST into first SC to join. Tie off and weave in ends.
